The impact compounds at scale. Our Fabric Kits list an estimated carbon offset versus mill-spun equivalents directly in their specs, because power-loom production and industrial dyeing are both energy-intensive steps we simply never introduce into the process.
There's a texture upside too: power looms run yarn under tension at high speed, which is part of why mill cloth feels uniform and slightly stiff compared to hand-loomed fabric. The slower, human-paced process is what preserves the breathable, slightly irregular hand-feel our ready-to-wear pieces are known for.
None of this is a marketing layer bolted onto finished cloth — it's a constraint we design production around from the very first spool of yarn.
